Our Commitment
At the core of our values is a commitment to always act in the best interest of both our customers and the planet. We look for any opportunity to make decisions that minimize our impact on the environment, reduce climate risk, and deliver the highest quality and most responsible product. There is no better demonstration of this commitment than Phlox Linens’ use of exclusively GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified fabrics.
The GOTS mission is to ensure the highest level of social and environmental impact in textile value chains through voluntary sustainability standards and related activities.
The organization fulfills its mission by development, implementation, verification, protection, and promotion of global Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) for textiles. Based on the successful Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) system and amplifying impact, these standards stipulate requirements throughout the supply chain for ecological, human rights including social criteria and business conduct in textile and apparel manufacturing. They define sustainable materials and practices based on robust scientific findings, ensuring our standards are credible, effective and impactful.
The Global Organic Textile Standard covers the entire production process based on the use of organic fibers from textile processing and manufacturing up to licensing and labelling. While this is a rigorous process in which all criteria must be met, the result is an internationally recognized organic certification demonstrating to stakeholders, partners, and consumers a commitment to providing sustainable, ethical, and high-quality products.
The aim is to define world-wide recognized requirements from the harvesting of raw fiber, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide credible assurance to the end consumer. Textile processors and manufacturers are thus enabled to export their fabrics and garments with certification accepted in all major markets.
What's in a Name
Mother Nature lies at the heart of Phlox Linens and is core to our identity and values. From our decision to sourcing only 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified Organic Cotton all the way through to our name. Inspired by Creeping Phlox the moniker is a nod to the blanket-like look of this beautiful plant. Spreading across a lawn or over a wall, Creeping Phlox has a plush and inviting look that, just like a well-made bed, invites one to want to curl up and tuck in for a long rest. Sweet dreams courtesy of Phlox Linens.
So what’s this all about?
Twelve years and three apartments ago I found myself in need of a bedding upgrade. Browsing a home store on Madison Ave. I came across an unexpected set of navy-blue sheets adorned with a whimsical and irregular star pattern. Despite the theme the Navy gave the sheets an adult feel and the subtle texture of the pattern brought them to life in a way I’d not seen before. Charmed by the set I happily brought them home and took instant delight in how they added both character and warmth to my once white bed. Month after month it brought me such joy whenever those sheets came up in rotation. They always made my day as so often only the little things can.
Like most good things, my printed bed sheets one day came to end. After a nice long run, countless laundry cycles, and too many good night’s sleep to count the sheets became threadbare and had to be retired. While sad to say goodbye I looked forward to finding my next signature print and was sure I’d easily discover plenty to choose from. WRONG. The original manufacturer had discontinued the design long ago and anything comparable from other brands remained elusive. Any search for printed bed sheets, online or IRL, lead only to florals and children’s themes. With absolutely nothing against either, these were not a fit. While initially discouraged I quickly became excited by the opportunity to fill the void. My lifelong entrepreneurial dreams now had focus and I got right down to work with the goal of developing my own line of printed bed linens. I’d always enjoyed mixing my star pattern in with other designs from the linen closet and set out to create a line that could mix and match as easily as they could stand alone.
Years of gathering fabric samples, color swatches and pattern options followed and at long last a collection was born in the Spring of 2025.
